The history of the Stachel family begins in 1662, with a family coat of arms in the town house of Steyr/Austria. After stops in East Prussia, Berlin and the Saarpfalz district, the family established itself as a leading name in fireplace construction.
Frank-Peter Stachel has been a pioneer in fireplace technology since 1980. His Stachel Fireplace Firebox© revolutionized the modification of open fireplaces, followed by innovations such as the HBO wood-burning stove insert, the Stovepipe Collector© and the Stachel Wood Heater©.

Are the Stachel products suitable for my old fireplace?
The solutions presented on this website are compatible with many fireplace models.
One solution adapts to numerous different fireplaces and is installed individually using a special fireclay tamping compound. Another variant is specially designed for certain fireplace models and has fixed dimensions.

Which fuels are permitted for my fireplace?
Do Stachel products comply with the applicable regulations and laws?
The HSE series are certified in accordance with the European standard EN 13229 and the German BImSchV Stage 2.
Germany:
Manufactured and tested in accordance with DIN EN 13299: AC2007, complies with BImSchV Stage 2.
Austria:
Certified according to Article 15a B-VG of the Republic of Austria.
France:
Meets the eligibility criteria of the Crédit d’impôt and corresponds to classification 7 of the Flamme Verte label.
Switzerland:
Tested in accordance with the Swiss Ordinance on Air Pollution Control.
In Germany, all tests are carried out in accordance with the European standard using wood with a moisture content of 12% to ensure comparable measurements.
What are the benefits of Stachel products?
With the new fireplace insert, you comply with level 2 of the BImSchV and can continue to use your fireplace beyond 2024 without restriction. The HSE series transforms your old insert into a new appliance with its own type plate and updated year of manufacture. You also save up to 30% firewood and only have to clean your fireplace every 8 to 14 days, depending on usage. There are usually still embers in the morning, which makes it easier to rekindle the fire.
Who is responsible for installing the filter if I want to retrofit my fireplace?
For 570 euros, you can also book the installation and sit back and relax. The price includes:

- Clean operation with minimal generation of dirt or dust entering the outside through the chimney
- Chimney cross-section calculation on request
- Household-related services are tendered separately
How do the HSE series for old fireplace inserts work?
Our HSE products reduce the causes of high particulate levels. Normally, primary air is fed directly to the combustion process through a standard grate in the fireplace, which leads to a more intense fire and increased wood consumption. With an HSE, there is no grate and the wood is burned more efficiently. Instead, secondary and tertiary air supplies the fire, which means that the firewood is almost completely gasified and particulate emissions are significantly reduced.
